Buck Island National Monument

The Buck Island Reef National Monument consists of 700 acres of Caribbean Sea and 1800 acres of land all overseen by the National Park Service. The Park houses over ninety species of fish and many species of coral. Named by National Geographic Magazine as one of the ten best beaches in the world, Buck Island is a sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling and boating paradise. Tours of Buck Island Reef National Monument Underwater Trail are led by experienced guides.

Full Day Adventure Tours

The full-day sail begins at 9:30am and concludes at 4:00pm on a 42 foot catamaran named Renegade. Renegade is the only sailboat on St. Croix with a glass bottom window and can accommodate 37 passengers. Stopping first at the beach, named by National Geographic as one of the 10 prettiest, snorkel gear is provided and lessons given to the beginners. After practicing, it’s over to the reef for a guided tour through the underwater trail. Guests are then given additional time to explore the reef further or relax upon the catamaran. Renegade then sails to a private, secluded beach on St. Croix for an all-you-can-eat and drink (rum punch) beach party. The Captain becomes the cook and offers grilled fresh fish, hamburgers, hot dogs and assorted snack foods. The cost per person for the full-day excursion is $90 for adults, $65 for children ages 6-12, and $20 for children 5 and under.

Half Day Adventure Tours

Be our guest for a half-day tour upon the Buck Island Flyer. We sail at 12:00 noon and return at 4:30pm. Equipment and instruction are provided at Buck Island as well as a guided tour through the underwater trail. The cost per person is $60 for adults, $45 for children ages 6-12, and $15 for children 5 and under.

Beer, soda, and bottled water are available for purchase on both catamarans.

Sunset Sails

Sunset is a magnificent sight on St. Croix and offers a breathtaking backdrop for our sunset sails. Complementary fruit punch and rum punch are provided. Relax and feel the trade winds for $35 per person for adults, $25 for children 6-12, and $10 for children 5 and under.

The Renegade and Buck Island Flyer are available for private charter on any of our trips. Please ask about group (20 or more) and private charter rates and schedules.

Reservations and Information

A 50% deposit is required to confirm all reservations. Big Beard’s Adventure Tours has a 48-hour cancellation policy for refund of deposit. We offer a 10% discount to travel agents and military personnel.
