Let's Face It,
It All Looks the Same Underwater (awesome when you're diving St. Croix)

It's the people that make the difference at SCUBA

Long time island residents, Molly and Ed Buckley head up the team of professional instructors and divemasters that work to make your diving vacation a wonderful one. Molly is the General Manager and Ed is Operations Manager. Molly moved to St. Croix from Atlanta in 1991, and Ed from Louisiana in 1985. Both were working for the airlines but fell in love with St. Croix and the wonderful diving it offers.

Ed is a US Coast Guard certificated Captain, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, NAUI Instructor, Medic First Aid Instructor, DAN O2 Instructor, and certified Scubapro repair technician

By the way, the third member of the management team shown above is SCUBA (Salve Cannis Ultra Bonnam Amicum--it translates to "Hail Dog, Going Beyond a Good Friend".

Michael has been around SCUBA almost from the beginning.
Originally Michael did all of our video work and helped out
with the occasional Divemaster or Instructor gig.
He's now a USCG Master and he's the guy that keeps our two dive boats,
Reliance, and Scuba Dos, the top two dive boats on the island.

Scott is a USCG Master,
and PADI Instructor.  Scott and his wife
have been on St. Croix for several years.
He originally worked for
Another Dive Center on St. Croix
but took the plunge to work for our
award winning dive staff in the summer
of 2008
.

Susie Shipman is a PADI Instructor
from Canada.  She moved here with
her husband (our own Captain Ed
married them back in September)
who's a pilot for the seaplane.

Steve Layton, a PADI Instructor,
along with his wife Maddy have been customers
of SCUBA for years.
He decided to retire and take up
SCUBA diving fulltime.

Jeff Elvins, is a Coast Guard Captain
who also runs his own pool company here on St. Croix

John , is orginally from Sioux City, Iowa.
He moved to San Francisco Bay Area and 1987
and met his wife Mary Ann in 1990.
He was a director for an agency for the developmentally disabled
for 22 years before deciding to move to St. Croix and dive full time.

After 5 years of sitting in a finance office for 13 hours a day, Jon woke up one morning and decided the corporate life in frigid Milwaukee, Wisconsin just was not for him. Diving, surfing, sailing and just being on the water everyday seemed much more appealing, so he quit his job and booked a plane ticket for St. Croix. Jon has been working for SCUBA since October of 2008, is a PADI Instructor, and recently passed all of his tests to become a Captain.

Ross, a PADI Instructor from New Zealand,
learned to dive and teach in the cold waters
off of Kaikoura and in Milford Sound.
He worked for several years on the
Great Barrier Reef in Australia,
where he met his wife Cindy.
The couple moved to St. Croix in March 2009
and have both worked for SCUBA ever since.

Chuck,  is a PADI Instructor who
just completed two years as a Broadreach
counselor.

Simeon,
is a globe trotting ESL teacher
and PADI Instructor who learned to dive
in the tropical waters of Thailand.
After a brief stint in his native Virginia
he decided to head down for some of the
best diving in the warm waters of St Croix.

Eric, AKA Enzo decided to leave is
Account Executive position as a manufacturers
rep in Florida & Puerto Rico after a decade.
Eric & his wife Kari enjoyed diving in Florida and Puerto Rico
on a weekly basis but always longed to move to St. Croix after
their initial trip here in 2008. Eric is fortunate enough to have logged dives on every Caribbean island for fun and work...He also dove the Sea of Cortez, the North Pacific & North Atlantic, Labrador straight down to Brazil.

Stine is from the exotic country of Denmark,
and thought she was gonna stay a week or two
when she first stepped foot on St. Croix in early 2009...
She's still here...:)
Born in 1985, she has been diving for nearly ten years
in many amazing locations all over the world,
and is a PADI instructor.
For the last five years she has traveled around the world,
after deciding to live life to the fullest and
that 'the real world' and all that comes with it can wait
.

At least as important as our dive staff are the people who first meet and greet our divers.
