It's the people that make the difference at SCUBA

Long time island residents, Molly and Ed Buckley head up the team of professional instructors and divemasters that work to make your diving vacation a wonderful one. Molly is the General Manager and Ed is Operations Manager. Molly moved to St. Croix from Atlanta in 1991, and Ed from Louisiana in 1985. Both were working for the airlines but fell in love with St. Croix and the wonderful diving it offers.

Ed is a US Coast Guard certificated Captain, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, NAUI Instructor, Medic First Aid Instructor, DAN O2 Instructor, and certified Scubapro repair technician

By the way, the third member of the management team shown above is SCUBA (Salve Cannis Ultra Bonnam Amicum--it translates to "Hail Dog, Going Beyond a Good Friend".  

 

Roger Shepherd (Sales Manager)
Our resident rock star comes to us from Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of Elvis Presley.  After 5 years of touring the country with his band, he has given up the rock n' roll lifestyle to become a pirate.  He has been a certified instructor for 8 years and is a welcome asset to our team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Captain Michael Gelardi has been around SCUBA almost from the beginning.  Originally Michael did all of our video work and helped out with the occasional Divemaster or Instructor gig.  He's now a USCG Master and he's the guy that keeps our two dive boats, Reliance, and Scuba Dos, the top two dive boats on the island.

 

 

 

 

Suzie Shipman is a PADI Instructor
from Canada.  She moved here with
her husband (our own Captain Ed
married them back in September)
who's a pilot for the seaplane.

 

 

 

 

 

Steve Layton, a PADI Instructor, along with his wife Maddie have been customers of SCUBA for years.  He decided to retire and take up SCUBA diving fulltime.

 

 

 

 

 

Jeff Elvins, is a Coast Guard Captain
who also runs his own pool company here on St. Croix

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mary Ann Kelly a PADI Instructor from Santa Cruz, California. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1990 where she worked as an Exeuctive Assistant. She and her husband John traveled around the world looking for the perfect island until they found St Croix. Mary Ann and John both love the warm water and the lovely reefs that St. Croix diving has to offer.

 

 

John Kelly, is orginally from Sioux City, Iowa. He moved to San Francisco Bay Area and 1987 and met his wife Mary Ann in 1990. He was a director for an agency for the developmentally disabled for 22 years before deciding to move to St. Croix and dive full time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jon Kieran, from Milwaukee.
Is the latest "I-can't-take-corporate-American-any-longer"
guy who decided that teaching scuba diving in warm
Caribbean waters was better than selling cars and shoveling snow.  Jon is a PADI Instructor.
